Thanks for all of your sweet comments on my HTML issues—you guys sure know how to make a girl feel better during frustrating moments! <3
After sleeping in until 10:30 this morning, I knew a sweet breakfast was in store.
So I made a big batch of oats! Sam had classic oats—simply sweetened with honey and cinnamon. Adam chose an egg sandwich + a cara cara orange.
I, on the other hand, wanted something a little different!
Chilled Pina Colada Oats <—am I on a pina colada kick or what?
I cooked up:
- 2 C. Oats + 2 T. chia seeds
- in 2 C. water + 1 C. coconut milk
- dash of salt
I split up the oats, but gave Sam a little more.
I let my cooked oatmeal chill in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
- chopped frozen pineapple
- 1/2 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior protein powder
- dollop of plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 T. coconut oil
- unsweetened shredded coconut
- unsweetened coconut milk
I’m pretty sure Sam was wishing he asked for something a little different instead of the classic this morning. Sorry buddy, these were all mine!
I need your opinions!
Yesterday I took the plunge and bought a new pair of running shoes.
I’ve been running in New Balance 1064’s for about a year and a half. I’ve probably put close to 600 miles on them.
They’ve been pretty great for the long haul, but I’ve been wanting to try something new.
Insert: Mizuno Wave Rider 14’s
I have heard nothing but great things about the Mizunos and the woman who helped me said she runs in them too!
I can’t wait to try these babies out, but I need some advice from the long time runners out there.
Should I be switching brands if my previous brand worked well for me?
The woman at Dick’s Sporting Goods told me that while New Balance are great shoes, they use a foam cushioning system. Foam tends to wear away more quickly under body weight than other forms of padding.
She told me that as long as I stick to indoor running, I can give the shoes a try and return them if they’re not for me!
What shoes do you run in?
Have you switched brands or did you find “the shoe?”
Well, I’m off to take Adam to a friend’s birthday party! I’m probably going to miss Zumba because everyone is watching the big game (Bears vs. Packers)—so no one will pick him up for me!
Sam said: “it’s the biggest game in the history of football—there will be more Zumba next week!” Yeah, yeah.
